Now that all the kids are back in school, it’s fun to make school-themed treats. Who am I kidding??? Any excuse to make fun treats works for me! This ‘pencil’ hides a roll of Rolo candies under the Designer Series Paper and a Hershey Kiss makes the point. What a cute back to school teacher gift!
Super easy to make, the hardest part is stamping & die cutting the tag. I used the Tags, Tags, Tags stamp set and the Trio of Tags dies from the new Holiday catalog with Terracotta Tile ink to make the tag, then tied it around the pencil using white Baker’s Twine.
For the pencil, I used Calypso Coral cardstock, Silver Foil cardstock, and the striped pattern from the BIrd Ballad DSP. Starting from the eraser end, adhere and wrap the Calypso Coral cardstock around one end of the Rolos, then the Silver Foil cardstock overlapping it just a bit. Next, score the DSP across the short side every 1/2″ to get seven 1/2″ sections. Accordian fold it and trim one end. Then flatten it out and mountain fold at each score line. Wrap that around the Rolo, slightly overlapping the Silver Foil cardstock. Attach a Hershey Kiss to the end of the Rolo – I just used Snail adhesive. Tie the tag on, securing with a mini glue dot if you don’t want it flapping around, and you’re done!
